Maggots Rain Down on Delta Airlines Passengers: Flight Forced to Turn Back

Delta Airlines is facing severe backlash after a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit took a disturbing turn when maggots started to fall onto passengers. The nine-hour flight was abruptly halted and had to make a U-turn approximately one hour into the journey.

According to horrified passengers, the maggots emerged from a rotten fish that was being carried in a passenger’s hand luggage. The infestation was discovered towards the back of the plane, causing panic and disgust among those on board.

One passenger, identified as Nisha_16 on Reddit, shared her horrifying experience, stating, «My family and I were in the row directly in front of the maggots. The lady right behind us told the flight attendants that the maggots were falling on her head. I turned around and saw them wiggling around on the seat.»

Another passenger, Kelsey, took to social media to express her frustration. In a now-deleted post on former Twitter, she mentioned informing the staff about an «absolutely odd odor» on board but claimed that no action was taken. Instead, she alleged that the crew was seen laughing and chatting among themselves during the three-hour flight with no provision of even water.

In response to the incident, Delta Airlines, known for being the world’s busiest airline with over 4,000 daily flights to more than 300 destinations, confirmed the presence of rotten fish and maggots in the passenger’s bag. The airline issued an apology to all those affected by the incident.

«We apologize to the customers of Flight 133 AMS-DTW as their trip was interrupted due to an improperly packed carry-on bag,» stated Delta Airlines spokesperson. «The aircraft returned to the gate, and passengers were accommodated on the next available flight. The aircraft was subsequently taken out of service for thorough cleaning.»

The affected plane eventually returned to Schipol Airport in Amsterdam, with passengers being provided alternative flights to their destinations.

This unfortunate event follows a string of recent incidents involving Delta Airlines. Just last month, one of their Boeing jets experienced a nose wheel detachment, while severe turbulence during a flight last year resulted in several passengers requiring medical attention.
